Chiffon Sarees

It was in the early 19th century that chiffon entered India. The soft diaphanous material was ideal to make sarees. It was light weight and could be printed easily. It could also be easily draped and was not heavy like cotton. It could be worn causally and also during ceremonial occasions.

There is a wide variety of this gauzy material available in the market. One can add lace, embroidery or patch work like mirrors too. Not many experiments can be done with this fabric as it is light and soft. It has a tendency to tear easily therefore special attention should be paid while designing and wearing it.

There are many attractive prints in chiffon that can be chosen.  Although transparent, it can be worn with a sheer petticoat that follows the contours of the body perfectly. A chiffon saree suits a nice tall figure if draped very well. Since the chiffon is soft, one has to avoid tucking safety pins that may tear the fabric.
